Scooter's Coffee Full Kids Menu Review

As a mom of four, I love a good kids meal, and I'm trying to review as many of them as I can! Once I get a few more done, I'm going to create a post to easily find them all and link from there. But today, I'm excited to kick off this brand-new post series by telling you all about the kids menu options at Scooter's Coffee. The fun kids menu at this coffee chain includes options like "smoothies" (which I'd call milkshakes), berry lemonade, cookies, and pretzel bites. And just for fun (and because I have four kids to split all this between,) we also tried the very-kid-friendly $1 donut bites. Here's my full review of the Scooter's Coffee Kids Menu as of August 2024:

Scooter's Coffee is a drive through coffeehouse chain that started in Omaha and has since expanded to hundreds of locations across the US. Along with their adult menu of coffee, tea, and other delicious drinks and snacks, they also have a nice kids menu.

So my kids and I decided to try all 4 flavors of drinks and both snack options, plus the $1 mini donuts, which aren't technically on the kids menu, but which are inexpensive and very kid-friendly. Here's what we tried:

Scooter's Snack Combos

Scooter's Coffee anchors their kids menu with "Kids Combos" consisting of a drink, a snack, and a prize, and they cost $5.25 when I went in August 2024. We have ordered these in the past, but at the time they did not have the cute boxes or the prizes, so I was excited to see the updated kids combos. I bought one snack combo with a Lemonberry-ade and sugar cookies, and one snack combo with a Strawberry Lil' Smiley Smoothie and pretzel bites. Each came in a cute light blue cardboard box with fluffy white clouds and the iconic Scooter's Coffee smiley face mascot on them. The boxes definitely make them feel like a big impressive treat, and also make it easy to carry. One of the things I've bought these for in the past was as a snack on a hot day on the way to a sibling's sporting event, and I feel like the box would make it so easy to carry this whole thing to a park. Inside the box was the drink, snacks, a large Scooter's smiley sticker, and the prize: a reusable translucent blue twisty straw with a Scooter's smiley charm on it.

My kids loved the smoothies, especially the strawberry, which I did not even get to try but my first grader assures me I should "tell the other mommies" is delicious. The drinks were each 10oz, which feels very large for a kids drink, and everything but the Lemonberry-ade was generously topped with whipped cream (sidenote: I definitely appreciated that they had an option with no whipped cream as some of my kids are lactose intolerant and it's great to have an option that doesn't require us to always take lactase supplements!) Anyway, the drinks were plenty big enough for my tween, and too much for my younger kids. For my toddler especially, I would love a drink half or 1/3 of that size (and I would not complain if it at a lower price too, haha.)

My kids were delighted with the straws as their prizes and wanted to use them right away and to keep them afterwards to use again, so I definitely think that was a great idea for the "prize" inside. I haven't tried it yet, but I think the charm might slide off and fit on other straws too, which is nice because curly straws can get gross over time even if you're cleaning them with a skinny brush, but the charm can transition to other straws if that does eventually happen. And smiley faces are fun!

I don't know how often they change the prize options, but I did see some videos of kids getting sunglasses as their prizes earlier this summer. So it's entirely possible they will change again at some point!

Now, on to the kids combo treats! The sugar cookies are pretty standard sugar cookies but with rainbow sprinkles baked into them, and my kids love them. I thought they were good for a sweet and colorful treat for kids, with a nice texture and flavor.

The pretzels were salty and buttery. The texture of pretzels is hard to get right, and these were good, but I don't think I'll order them again. A lighter texture and chunkier salt would have improved these for me. They also have dipping sauces for an additional cost, but I did not try any of those on this visit.

Kids Drinks at Scooter's Coffee

We also tried the other two flavors of kids drinks. Kids drinks on their own not as part of a combo, are still 10oz and they were $3.25 when we went in August 2024.

For those, we got a Cotton Candy Lil' Smiley Smoothie and a Caramel Apple Lil' Smiley Smoothie. Both were very good. Cotton candy isn't necessarily my personal favorite flavor, but it was sweet and nice tasting, and my toddler loved it. I personally loved the caramel apple flavor. The overall sweetness, the slightly sour taste of the apple, and the very slightly salty caramel was a perfect combination for me!

We also tried the $1 donuts from the Dollar Delights menu rather than the kids menu. The donuts come as a three pack of mini donuts and they are plain glazed donuts. For $1 I think they are a great option, and I love that they are minis so I can easily split them amongst kids without feeling like I need to buy an entire bag for each kid.

Other menu faves

Scooter's also has a huge variety of hot and cold drinks including coffee, tea, smoothies, lemonade and blenders with many syrup flavor options. One thing I know I will always enjoy for me is anything from their "Caramelicious" line like an Iced Pumpkin Caramelicious.

The best bargain on the menu is the roasted coffee on their Dollar Delights menu. I like it with whipped cream and hazelnut syrup added, personally! They also sell a selection of food items that pair well with coffee like breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, cinnamon rolls, muffins, and cake bites.

Siouxland Fourth of July Fireworks & Fun

Fourth of July falls on a Thursday in 2024 and there is lots of patriotic fun happening. Here's where you can catch fireworks and celebrate the USA this year:

Little Chicago Deli is coming back to Sioux City!

Sioux City's newest eatery isn't actually new--it's just the newest iteration of a classic! Little Chicago Deli is opening in a new location just a couple doors down from the original restaurant, and they're opening on Friday May 31, 2024, for pickup orders and delivery, with the dining lobby opening later in summer 2024. Here's the info we have so far on Sioux City's new Little Chicago Deli: History of Little Chicago Deli Little Chicago Deli has been around Sioux City since 1988 as a locally owned sandwich shop, but unfortunately the previous location closed in 2017. Prior to that, I remember going there in college while I was doing an internship downtown, and I was sad to hear the original closed. But new owners, including some staff from the old Little Chicago Deli, are bringing it back in 2024! The name pays homage to local legends about Sioux City during Prohibition. For starters, Prohibition was widely ignored in Sioux City
