One of the highlights of every July for Siouxland families is the annual Rivercade Festival! Since the Sixties, this festival has been celebrating the river and our local community, and it's still going strong. Here's what local families and visitors to Siouxland should know about Sioux City's Rivercade Festival:

What is River-Cade

River-Cade is a local festival that started in 1964. Since then, the annual fun has included a wide variety of events and activities including a parade, concerts, pageantry, and much more. Some of the traditions have changed or disappeared over the years, but many continue strong to this day, and occasionally new fun is added to the festival. Whatever each year holds, it is sure to be a lot of fun! The River-Cade festivities are organized by the Port of Sioux City River-Cade Association and supported by many local businesses and individuals.

The Rivercade Parade is one of Sioux City's best, and the 2024 parade will be held on Wednesday, July 17th at 6:30 pm, starting at Fifth and Court, then heading down Fifth Street to Pierce Street, and taking Pierce Street to the Long Lines Rec Center.

Kingdom of Riverssance

Sioux City's annual renaissance festival is also run by Rivercade and is known as the Kingdom of Riverssance. It is not, however, held at the same time as the rest of the Rivercade festivities in the summer. Instead, Kingdom of Riverssance is usually held in early October at Riverside Park. The 2024 Kingdom of Riverssance Gathering is scheduled for October 4th and fifth.

Siouxland Fourth of July Fireworks & Fun

Fourth of July falls on a Thursday in 2024 and there is lots of patriotic fun happening. Here's where you can catch fireworks and celebrate the USA this year:

Little Chicago Deli is coming back to Sioux City!

Sioux City's newest eatery isn't actually new--it's just the newest iteration of a classic! Little Chicago Deli is opening in a new location just a couple doors down from the original restaurant, and they're opening on Friday May 31, 2024, for pickup orders and delivery, with the dining lobby opening later in summer 2024. Here's the info we have so far on Sioux City's new Little Chicago Deli: History of Little Chicago Deli Little Chicago Deli has been around Sioux City since 1988 as a locally owned sandwich shop, but unfortunately the previous location closed in 2017. Prior to that, I remember going there in college while I was doing an internship downtown, and I was sad to hear the original closed. But new owners, including some staff from the old Little Chicago Deli, are bringing it back in 2024! The name pays homage to local legends about Sioux City during Prohibition. For starters, Prohibition was widely ignored in Sioux City
