Are you looking for a special way to spend Valentine’s Day in Sioux City? Whether you'd most enjoy a date that's sporty, foodie, classic, or somewhere in between, Sioux City has great options for romance and fun with your Valentine this February.

With that in mind, here are my top six recommendations for Valentine’s Day dates in Sioux City:

Chill & Sporty Valentine

Sporty couples will enjoy celebrating their love by hitting the ice—and snow—at Sioux City’s Cone Park where you can enjoy ice skating and snow tubing down the Cone Park hill, including special sessions of Snow Glow Tubing! Or check out some of the other options for participating in Snow Sports in Siouxland

Popcorn & Candy

Cuddle on the couch with a great movie, your sweetie, and some Jolly Time Popcorn and Palmer’s Candy for a cozy Valentine’s Day at home with serious Sioux City flavor! I’ve never had anything from either place that wasn’t amazing, but my top picks for people new to the two would be a selection of the truffles from Palmer’s, paired with some caramel popcorn hearts from Jolly Time Koated Kernels.

Fine Dining

Sioux City has some great restaurants, and for upscale romantic ambience, I recommend Kahill's, Soho, or Crave. Or for uniquely local flavor, get the chislic at Minerva's--it's a dish starring melt-in-your-mouth fried steak bites that originated just a bit north of us, near Sioux Falls!

Some other Valentine 2022 special dining options that have been announced also include:

  • Brightside Cafe in downtown Sioux City: Candlelit Dinner for 2 on February 12th from 6-9pm, with only 18 tables available. the $59.97 prix fixe menu includes soup or salad, an entree, and dessert!
  • Koffie Knechtion in South Sioux City, NE: Dinner on Valentine's Day (Mon 2/14) with extremely limited seating and a special prix fix menu for $33 per person including salad, bread, sides, and your choice of beef tenderloin or salmon! More info here.

Diner & Milkshakes

For retro flavor and a more laid-back date, head to Billy Boy's or Tastee's for a vintage drive-through experience. At Tastee, you can try Sioux City's signature dish, the loosemeat or tavern sandwich, and at Billy Boy you can choose from a wider variety of burgers, hot dogs, loosemeats, and more. I recommend upgrading to the onion chips and finishing your meal with a milkshake. Billy Boy's is known for their shakes, or you can cruise up to Le Mars for an unforgettable gourmet ice cream treat at the newly renovated Wells Visitor Center and Ice Cream Parlor.

Luxury Staycation

Looking for a mini getaway? Head to the Warrior Hotel for dinner at their incomparable Woodbury's Steakhouse, then go bowling at their Warrior Lanes, or check out the hotel pool, before staying for the night in one of their spectacular rooms. This newly renovated jewel of Sioux City is sure to delight your Valentine in luxury!

Get Artsy

Stroll together through the Sioux City Art Center to enjoy paintings, photography, sculpture, and more. This would be such a fun option after eating out somewhere, or on its own. Check out my post about visiting the Sioux City Art Center for more details on what to expect! Or, if you'd rather make your own art, check out the upcoming workshops at Pickled Palette!

Siouxland Fourth of July Fireworks & Fun

Fourth of July falls on a Thursday in 2024 and there is lots of patriotic fun happening. Here's where you can catch fireworks and celebrate the USA this year:

Little Chicago Deli is coming back to Sioux City!

Sioux City's newest eatery isn't actually new--it's just the newest iteration of a classic! Little Chicago Deli is opening in a new location just a couple doors down from the original restaurant, and they're opening on Friday May 31, 2024, for pickup orders and delivery, with the dining lobby opening later in summer 2024. Here's the info we have so far on Sioux City's new Little Chicago Deli: History of Little Chicago Deli Little Chicago Deli has been around Sioux City since 1988 as a locally owned sandwich shop, but unfortunately the previous location closed in 2017. Prior to that, I remember going there in college while I was doing an internship downtown, and I was sad to hear the original closed. But new owners, including some staff from the old Little Chicago Deli, are bringing it back in 2024! The name pays homage to local legends about Sioux City during Prohibition. For starters, Prohibition was widely ignored in Sioux City
