Siouxland Pumpkin Patches

One of the best parts of living right in the middle of some of the world's best farmland is access to amazing pumpkin patches! Whether you're looking for simply pumpkins in a farm field, or an all-day adventure with corn mazes, hayrides, apple cider donuts, and cute photo opps, or something in between, Siouxland probably has your type of pumpkin patch! Here are the best pumpkin patches in Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota within a 2-hour drive from downtown Sioux City, listed by distance from downtown Sioux City:

Scarecrow Farm

Location: 1592 Charles Avenue, Lawton, Iowa
Distance from downtown Sioux City: 8.7 miles/ 15 minutes (4 miles East of Menards)
Dates for 2024: Sunflower Days are weekends in September, beginning September 7th, 2024. Click here for more information on Sunflower Days at Scarecrow Farm. In October, Scarecrow Farm is open from 10am to 7pm for fall fun! On Saturday, October 5th, enjoy Smores and Stars night at Scarecrow Farm from 6 to 9pm. And on Saturday, October 12th, 2024 enjoy Oktoberfest at Scarecrow Farm. 
2024 Costs: $15.94 per person. One free bloom is included with each Sunflower Days admission. Other than that, flowers, pumpkins, and treats are sold for an additional cost.
Fun Features: At Scarecrow Farms you'll have fun with the pumpkin patch, hay maze, hayrack rides, mini train, ghost story barn, jumbo slide, tire swing, corn box, trike track, jumping pillow, and petting zoo! To eat, enjoy some pick your own apples from their apple orchard, hot drinks like apple cider and more treats for sale in the Hay Stack Treat Shack including pie and carving pumpkins, pumpkin carving tools, gourds, squash, apples, local honey, hay bales, jams, jellies, salsa, cold bottled sodas and root beer, and much more! New in 2021 were an apple cannon, and a new adult beverage station in the former zipline tower with beer, wine slushees, yard games and seating with great views of the patch!

Dailey's Madcat Pumpkin Patch

Location: 
48183 335th St, Jefferson, SD 57038 (corner of 335th Street and 482nd Avenue)
Distance from downtown Sioux City: 12.6 miles/17 minutes (but just 5 minutes from Dakota Valley schools)
Dates open in 2024: Open from sunrise to sunset every day from September 20th to October 31st.
Costs: $3 for small pumpkins, $5 for large pumpkins, or 10 pumpkins for $30. Corn Maze admission for those 12+ is $10 per person. No change is available for pumpkins or the corn maze or anything else, so bring exact cash. 
Fun Features: This sweet and simple 8-acre pumpkin patch lets you pick your own pumpkins from the field. If you're looking for pumpkins in a field on a working farm, this is the patch for you! When the weather is dry, you can drive all around the dirt road surrounding patch. Also look for straw bales, corn shucks, and squash for sale.

Diane's Pumpkin Patch

Diane's Pumpkin Patch in Ireton, IA is permanently closed as of 2020 due to the happy reason of retirement! If you know the owners, be sure to congratulate them!


Adele's Cat Pumpkin Patch

Location: 33031 482nd Avenue, Jefferson, SD
Distance from downtown Sioux City: 18 miles/25 minutes
2024 Dates open: Saturdays and Sundays from September 21st to October 27th, from 11am to 6pm on Saturdays and on Sundays from noon to 6pm.
Costs: Admission to Adele's Cat Pumpkin Patch for the 2024 season is $10 per person ages 3+ and free for babies and toddlers 2 and under
Fun Features: Corn maze, straw pyramid with slides, mini train


Harvest Hollow Pumpkin Farm

The owners of Harvest Hollow Pumpkin Farm in Le Mars have decided to retire, so the patch is closed! Congratulations to them! For more information, please visit their Facebook page.


Holly View Acres

Location: 2941 Moville Blacktop, Hornick, IA
Distance from downtown Sioux City: 30 miles/35 minutes
2023 Dates open: September 14th through October 27th, on Saturdays from 10am to 5pm and Sundays from 1 to 5pm
Costs: FREE admission to the pumpkin patch. Corn maze admission is free for kids under 5, $6 for kids 5-12, and $8 for ages 13+
Fun Features: Their 12-acre corn maze with hidden mailboxes is a perennial favorite and has a Noah's Ark theme this year. Guests also enjoy hayrides, cornhole, corn kernel beach, farm kitties, cute photo ops galore, and a farmyard playground with slides and swings

Hillside Harvest 

Location: 3185 Highway 141, Smithland, IA
Distance from downtown Sioux City: 35 miles/36 minutes 
2024 dates open: Open from September 28th through October 27th, on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 6pm
Costs: 2024 costs TBA, but in 2024, their admission cost was $5 for ages 3 & up. FREE for babies and toddlers under 3!
Fun features: Tons of fun is available at Hillside Harvest, including a giant slide, racing slides, a corn maze, a farm-themed kids' area, a corn pool, food trucks or other vendors onsite every weekend, a special live music event possible the weekend before Halloween, and pick-your-own pumpkins!

Hoefling's Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze

Location: 5303 D Ave, Marcus, IA
Distance from downtown Sioux City: 41.7 miles/50 minutes
Dates open in 2024: 2024 dates and times TBA, but in 2023 they were open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3 to 7pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from noon until 6pm.
Costs: Free gate admission
Fun Features: Visitors should expect dozens of varieties of pumpkin, squash, and decorative corns, hay rides, a corn play area, a corn maze, pumpkin bowling, bean bag toss, and lots of cute selfie opportunities! Ladies Night, lighted corn maze, and haunted corn maze events are favorites each year, so watch for announcements of those special event dates. There is also a gift shop featuring handmade pumpkin bread, cookies and popcorn balls, plus caramel apples, bottles of pop and more.

Harvest Moon Oakland

Location: 1410 Highway 77, Oakland, NE
Distance from downtown Sioux City: 45.5 miles/53 minutes
Dates open: Opening day for 2024 is September 15th, 2024. After that, Harvest Moon will be open from 10am to 3pm on Tuesdays through Thursdays, from 10am to 6pm on Fridays, and from noon to 8pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Harvest Moon is closed on Mondays. 
Costs: Free for babies & toddlers 2 & under. For ages 3 to 64 regular admission is $12, with discounted admission at $9 for seniors & veterans. Season passes are $25, and firepit rental is $50 for 4 hours, including firewood.
Fun Features: At the picturesque Harvest Moon, you'll find not only pumpkins but also a 3-acre corn maze, puppet barn, 2 giant jumping pillows, adult tricycles, corn maze, go-karts, barn slides, ziplines, Deadwood Forest, basketball shoot-outs, skeeball, and many activities for very young children.  Plus, find delicious food and treats in the Harvest Table. Harvest Moon is always updating, and new for 2023 is a mini train on weekends, a build block pen, and a new gift barn, and new in 2022 was an updated treehouse and giant games!

Fields of Fun

Location: 3273 400th Street, Sioux Center, IA
Distance from downtown Sioux City: 46 miles/54 minutes
Dates Open in 2024: Beginning Labor Day (Monday 9/2/24), Fields of Fun will be open throughout September and October. They will be open on Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 9pm. Fields of Fun is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Costs: Adult corn maze admission is $8 per maze or $14 for both mazes, while kids and groups of 15+ people can go in the mazes for $7. The Lil Sprout Corn Maze, Corn Box, Petting Zoo, play area, and exploring the pumpkin patch are all free! Apples are $2 per pound, paintball is $2 per 10 paintballs, hayrides are $3, barrel train $3, bonfire pit rentals are $20, with firewood for another $10 (or you may bring your own!) and pumpkins are 52c per pound for the 2024 season.
Fun Features: Corn Maze, Petting Zoo, Hayrides, and of course, lots of pumpkins! There will also be all sorts of goodies for sale, from classic baked goods to trendier fare like iced coffee.

Pumpkinland

PumpkinLand is permanently closed, but for a happy reason (retirement), so feel free to send well-wishes to the owners! Their grandchildren opened Fields of Fun, so that's a great one to consider instead if you're a fan of the PumpkinLand family!

Country Apple Orchard

Location: 27249 SD Highway 115, Harrisburg, SD
Distance from downtown Sioux City: 79.3 miles/ 1 hour 10 minutes
Dates Open in 2023: Every Friday through Sunday in September and October. Limited hours on Labor Day weekend due to extreme heat!
Costs: FREE admission to the orchard and pumpkin patch areas. For the "festival area" with all of their other fun: admission is for kids under 35" (probably most babies and toddlers and some petite preschoolers), $11.95 on Fridays and $14.95 on Saturdays and Sundays for adults and school kids. Pony rides are $5, and the apple cannon range costs $5 per bucket. Produce prices vary, and most of the other fun is included in admission cost! There is also a $49.95 season pass option. 
Fun Features: This apple orchard has more than a dozen delicious varieties of apples you can pick. It also has tons of fun fall attractions including a petting barn, pony rides, barrel train rides, rubber duck races, giant pillows and haystacks for jumping, a zipline, and pick your own apples! New for 2021 was the Country Apple Beer Garden, with a variety of beverages for the 21+ crowd.

Mazing Acres Pumpkin Patch

Distance from downtown Sioux City: 72 miles/ 1 hour 17 minutes
Dates open in 2023: Open from September 14th through October 27th on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 6pm
Costs: Daily admission costs and family season pass prices for 2024 TBA. Tickets available to purchase starting September 3rd, 2024.
Fun Features: Mazing Acres has several acres of pumpkins, from classic orange to more exotic varieties of pumpkins and other gourds, and guests get to take a hayride out to the field to choose their perfect pumpkin! Mazing Acres also includes 5 acres of corn maze with a unique design--the 2024 maze has a country music theme, and Luke Bryan even made a little promo video for them! Also at Mazing Acres are a barrel train, a pipe slide, duck races, tire mountain, trike track, hayrack rides, tetherball, and more! New for 2021 were a Mega Bounce area and a 150-foot Mega Slide, the only one in the state of South Dakota! 
Mazing Porches: Mazing Acres rolled out a fun new service in 2022: porch decorating! If you've ever wanted a fall porch display worthy of social media or a magazine cover, Mazing Acres can make it happen for you. Packages begin at $250 for a 25+ pumpkin DIY package and $380 for a custom porch with 35+ pumpkins and a bale of hay.

Solsma's Punkin Patch

Dates open : Open daily from Labor Day to Halloween, from noon to 9pm
Costs: FREE admission
Fun Features: 2024 is the 25th year of Solsma's Pumpkin Patch, so if you get to go, be sure to congratulate them, and if you want to celebrate with them even more, go to their special 25th anniversary event on September 21st! 
Solsma's pumpkin patch features 65 varieties of pumpkins, plus a corn maze and a country store with a variety of seasonal and home decor. The real show stealer though, is their delicious locally made foods and home decor items available for purchase, including honey, frosted cupcakes, fresh picked apples, hormone free beef, the Solsma's famous ruby red popcorn, and wines from Summerset Winery and Country Barn Winery (specific offerings vary by week but feel free to call them if you'd like to know what's available a certain week!) Solma's also loves to host food trucks, so watch their social media for the latest updates on who might be at the patch when you're there!

Skinny Bones Pumpkin Patch

Location: 3935 State Highway 133, Blair, NE
Distance from downtown Sioux City: 86 miles/ 83 minutes
Dates open for 2024: Open from September 6th to November 2nd, on Mondays through Wednesdays from 9am to 3pm, on Thursdays from 9am to 9pm, on Fridays and Saturdays from 9am to 10pm, and on Sundays from 9am to 7pm.
Costs: FREE for babies and toddlers under 3. For everyone 3 and older admission in September is $14.95 on Mon-Thurs and $19.95 for Fri-Sun, and in October it's $15.95 for Monday through Thursday and $24.95 for Fri-Sun in October. Season passes available for $61.68
Fun Features: Corn maze, corn pool, slides, Daisy Train, Tornado Alley, jump pillows, petting zoo, pedal karts, hayrides, mystery house, pumpkin shooter and more!

Pioneer Trail Orchard & Pumpkin Patch

Costs: FREE Admission
Fun Features: For 2024 season, offering you-pick apples and pumpkins. Also hosting Madness Haunted Farm with admission for $25 per person, so please visit their Madness Hunt Haunted House page for more information on that. It looks like it is targeted at teens and adults, not for small children so please keep that in mind when deciding who to visit with.

Poppy's Pumpkin Patch

Dates open for 2024: Opening from September 14th to October 30th on Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 10am to 3pm, and on Thursdays through Sundays from 10am to 6pm. Poppy's Pumpkin Patch is closed on Mondays. 
Costs: Babies & toddlers 2 & under are free! For ages 3-64, admission to Poppy's is $11.99, with discounted admission of $10.99 for seniors and military. Adult-only nights are $18 per person to attend. Season passes are $30. 
Fun Features: Poppy's features tons of pumpkins, a raft ride, cool slides and climbing structures, and peacocks, an alpaca, and a baby donkey! There's also a café on Saturdays and Sunday where you can get hot dog or pulled pork meals, or seasonal snacks like pumpkin bars and gourmet caramel apples.

Vala's

Location: 12102 South 180th Street, Gretna, NE
Distance from downtown Sioux City: 113 miles/1 hour 44 minute
Dates Open for 2024: Open beginning August 30th for Cider and Sunflower Festival, then open weekends in September and everything in October and the weekend through November 3rd! Vala's is open from 9am to 9pm on Sunday through Thursday and from 9am to 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Costs: Free for babies and toddlers 2 or younger. Weekday admission and Cider + Sunflower fest admission is $19.79 on the website, while October weekend admission is $35.99. Season passes are $84.99 per person plus tax. There are also several special discount days at Vala's for various groups including homeschoolers, teachers, first responders, 4-H members, and more so be sure to check those out for a deal!
Fun Features: Vala's is considered by some to be the best pumpkin patch in the entire world--it's pretty much a pumpkin & fall themed amusement park! There are hayrides, a corn maze, pirate maze, storybook barn, giant rocking chair, haunted farmhouse and trail, lost pumpkin mine, creepy hollow village, barnyard animal band, scarecrow band, petting corral, big slide, giant games, go-karts, peddle trikes, graveyard golf, pumpkin patch train, face painting, pony rides, gemstone mining, tons of photo opportunities, and much more! Because there is so much going on and some of the attractions are included while some cost an additional fee, I definitely recommend visiting their site and reading about Vala's from these families who have been there.

The Grove

Distance from Downtown Sioux City: 102 miles/1hr, 45 minutes
Dates Open for 2024: Saturdays and Sundays from September 21st and 22nd through October 27th, from 10am to 6pm on all those dates except from 10am to 3 on the 27th.
Costs: $10 for kids and adults from 3 to 64, FREE admission for babies and toddlers 2 & under, $8 for military and for senior citizens 65+
Fun Features: Visitors to the Grove will find a delightful pumpkin patch and corn maze plus much more. A highlight is the ropes course, and visitors will also love the sheep shed, yard games, trike track, and much more! The Grove also hosts fun events like Grove Olympics and The Grove After Dark. New in 2021 were a human hamster wheel, a new corn bin, and a panning station. New in 2022 was awesome new basketball shootout, Expect tons of seasonal fun at the Grove this fall. 

Hawk Valley Gardens

Hawk Valley Garden is now permanently closed. According to a Facebook post from July 2020, they thank all of their supporters and visitors, and look forwards to spending more time with their grandchildren. 

Nelson Produce Farm

Location: 10505 North 234th Street, Valley, NE
Distance from Downtown Sioux City: 98 miles/1hr, 45 minutes
Dates Open for 2024: Open every day except Mondays for fall fun starting August 24th. Open 9am to 5pm on Tuesday through Thursday and on Sundays, and from 9am to 9pm on Friday and Saturdays. 
Costs: Admission for everyone 4+ is $20 at the gate or $15 in advance online. Babies and toddlers 3 & under are FREE. Season passes are $45
Fun Features: Nelson's is the top watermelon producer in Nebraska and the first you-pick sunflower farm in the state! Visitors enjoy a haybale tower, tire pile, feeding animals, a barrel train, corn pit, tire swing, duck races, a little farmers play area, mud kitchen, and sand pile. There are also treats for sale like apple cider donuts, seasonal slushies, and much more!
